Jelly Rose is a singer/songwriter/musician and performer from Kansas. She and her four to five picce band play original songs that seamlessly infuse sounds and textures from rock, pop, r&b, gosple and jazz.
Jeilly Rose's earliest influences came from the church. Her grandfather was the pastor of the church she attended where her father and mother were the leaders of the music department. One of her four brothers played the drums and another was the sound technician. The last two brothers would assist in whatever capacity needed. That same core group remains the backbone of Jelly Rose.
The gospel music of the church was the catalyst for all that was and is to come. Rose's father was a song writer who insisted on original music and constant creativity for the church. Jelly Rose, following in those footsteps, began writing songs at a very young age. Always encouraged by her parents to discover things for herself she bagan challenging and stretching the boundaries of the traditions of religion not only in theory but in music and performance as well. It created a sound and vibe that were at home in bars, lounges, clubs, churches and on the stages of various venues .
Jelly Rose's influences include Prince, Trevor Hall, Blake Shelton, Rhianna, Kings Of Leon, Corrince Baily Rae, Sting, Pink and many, many more. Artist with influence on her music can be sensed in some of her origianl songs but very seldom to never will Rose perform a cover. "I've got way too many of my own babies that need to get to the stage to take up space with the offspring of other artist." she says in response to questions about performing covers.
On stage Jelly Rose can flat out bring it. She seamlessly travels in an out of genres, amping up for energetic rock anthems then soultry slow jams taking the audience a a journey through spirituality, love and flat out fun. She comes to the stage each night armed with tons of original material and a band sharp enough to follow her lead as she often creates the set list on the fly. "I have to be able to respond to the vibe of the audience and that can change from moment to moment during a performance." she states.
Jelly Rose has been performing professionally for over 6 years. She has been honored to open for Mali Music, has headlined several concerts including a Kansas State University student body invitation, and set up a four date residence at Madrigall night club in the Crossroads of Kansas City, Missouri, and has been a mainstay of the KC Fringe Festival since 2011.
